As wonderful as it is to have more daylight, the turning of the clocks this weekend will wreak havoc with some of our own internal clocks. Yes, Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday at 2am. This is the one where we set the clocks forward an hour.... wonderful for the added daylight, but it throws away an hour of our (much coveted) sleep.
Rather than be thrown by the process, some parents find it useful to be proactive. Try moving up bedtime a bit each night leading up to Sunday in the hopes that this will help adjust wake time for school or daycare by Monday morning. You can try by moving bedtime 10 minutes/night earlier, starting tonight. It may also be helpful to try to be around natural light right upon morning wake-up to help reset our human clocks to match our digital ones.
Or you could do what we do... go cold turkey.
